The book covers 19 countries, with stories and testimonials narrated by 26 authors, about the ample and diverse landscape of the unique connection between viticulture and emigration. The research was coordinated by Università La Sapienza of Rome, Fondazione Migrantes and Società Geografica Italiana. Chapter: “The Italian contribution to the development of New Zealand, through the love of wine and vineyards”, by Francis Ferruccio Bertagnolli (pages 192-195). Romeo Bragato is considered the father of the wine industry in New Zealand, raising it from experimental to world-famous. One century later, in 1996, Italian immigrants Alessandro and Wilma Laryn established a Pinot Gris vineyard in Christchurch.
